Alive and seductive, that is the nature of Cayo
Largo del Sur. Its diverse and ancient plant life is a coastline vegetation where bushes
and plants typical of this setting predominate: there is the ciruelillo, the hicaco and
the cuabilla together with bindweed, sage and mangrove that adorn the ancient dunes with
their own peculiar woven pattern.
The El Torreón
nursery is also located on Cayo Largo del Sur, located one kilometer from the Isla del Sur
hotel and close to the Lindamar and Pelicano hotels.
Back in 1958 this
building was a 2.11 hectare aqueduct used for the reproduction of 63 species of native
plants introduced to decorate the gardens of the hotel network.
The hotel gardens are
also the habitat of native animal species such as the crocodile acutus, iguanas,
hummingbirds, sparrow hawk and chinchiguaco.
This area because of a
diverse plant and animal life due to its interlinked lagoons and its stone tower that will
be used as a look out point is one of the many attractions open to visitors to Cayo Largo
del Sur. |
